God bless you for this recipe! My grandpa always made Swedish Meatballs for New Years Day, and my grandparents moved to Texas to live with my mom last summer, and we aren’t going to be able to be with them. And I wanted to make them for the kids, but didn’t have a good recipe! AND I’m also getting ready to go Keto, and this recipe is Keto-friendly; double-win! 🙂
Yay! That sounds like such a special family tradition, Crystal.
Do you use fully cooked frozen meatballs or uncooked? Would either work for this recipe? Thanks!
I use cooked meatballs, but I’ve cooked raw meatballs in my crockpot before with other recipes.
So the recipe says frozen meatballs. Do you cook the meatballs and then freeze them with the other ingredients? Or do you put the frozen meatballs in with the other ingredients and freeze it all together? Please advise.
I add them to the bag frozen.
What do you recommend serving with these?
Nevermind… I didn’t see it at the top. (Insert face palm)
These were amazing ! Seasoning is perfect.
Love this!
Yay!
Is there a recipe to make your own meatballs verses buying a bag of frozen meatballs that have preservatives in them? I know it’s more time consuming but prefer to skip preservatives as much as possible.
Absolutely! I understand. I would recommend these: https://members.newleafwellness.biz/recipe/italian-meatballs/
Also, they might not work for this recipe, but these stuffed turkey meatballs are amazing: https://members.newleafwellness.biz/recipe/mozzarella-stuffed-turkey-pesto-meatballs/
First recipe I tried since becoming a Member. The family absolutely loved it! Excited to explore and find more family favorites.
So I just became a member and this was my first meal. I didn’t have time to pre-freeze but I had all the ingredients (including frozen meatballs) and threw it all in the crockpot today. I ended up putting the meatballs on a bed of linguine noodles and green beans and corn on the side. My family were a little hesitant and I have some picky eaters – but omg we all loved it!! It was a total hit, they asked if I could make it again. You bet cha! I can’t wait to actually prepare the other meals and try them.
Did you cook less time or the 4 hrs on low in crockpot? I’m thinking of doing the same.
I’m confused. Do we shorten the cooking times in the crockpot if we don’t prefreeze but the meatballs are the frozen ones? Also can it be made in instant pot? If so how do I cook it?
Any ideas for doing this one on the stove top or oven? My family loves this one so much!
Love this recipe! It was one of the first ones I tried. the first time I rushed the cooking… set the crock pot on high. There is a reason it says cook on low… my cream broke. It still tasted good. The next time I did it as instructed… AMAZING!!!
Thank you Kelly, great recipes, great instructions.
